I’ve been a long time high heel fanatic. I’ve owned a lot of shoes that literally filled half of my closet. I’ve gone through the ups and downs with high heels and I can say, they can be quite the beast to tame. High heels are not the kind of shoes that you can just take lightly. Slap on a 5-inch pair and walking on them is harder than you think. Although you might see some models on TV rocking those kind of heels, but it’s easier said than done. Anyhow, I’ll share a couple tips on how I make my heels work for me so they don’t hurt my feet or at least not that much:

Like any athlete would do, I stretch my feet before I put on my heels. It’s like warming up your leg muscles so you don’t get tired easily plus you’ll reduce the risk of getting cramps by doing so.

Only wear high heels that fit. Don’t even think about wearing those heels that you bought on sale. You know they just look good, but don’t fit at all. I recommend this to everyone I know, only wear shoes that fit.

Another thing to keep in mind about high heeled shoes is that, the thicker the heels, the more comfortable they get. I know, thick isn’t as sexy, but at least they’re comfortable.

Save your soul and don’t go with thin soles. Thin soled heels will kill your feet faster than you can finish a Hail Mary.

Lastly, you're no robot. Don’t think of it as a weakness, but you do need to give your muscles a break every once in a while.
